Pragueis one of the best preserved medieval cities of Europe, with a history dating back to the 9th century and architecture linking Gothic, Baroque and Secession. Eight days is enough to get to know not only classic tourist attractions, but also local clubs, cafes and less famous neighborhoods.
Day 1–2: Prague Castle and Hradčany
Pražský hradis the largest castle in the world according to Guinness (700,000 m2). Day 3: Charles and Malá Strana Bridge
Karlův bridge(1357) is best visited before 8:00 or after 21:00 when there are no crowds of photographers. On the other side of Vltava visitSt. Nicholas Church— Baroque masterpiece with 1500 m2 fresco and the biggest bell in Prague. The entrance to the tower (100 Kč) gives the best view of the Castle.
Day 4: Old Town and Josefov
Staroměstské náměstíwith Gothicastronomical clock(Orloi, 1410) — each full hour 9:00–23:00 shows the apostles. Jewish Museum inJosefov(500 Kč) includes 6 monuments including the Old New Synagogue (1270) and a cemetery with 12,000 tombstones arranged in 12 layers.
Day 5: Vyšehrad and Vltava
Vyšehrad— The legendary place of the founding of Prague by Princess Libusha. Rotunda St. Martin's (XI c.), Famous Cemetery (Dvořák, Smetana, Mucha). In the afternoon, a boat cruise through Vltava (from 350 Kč, hour) — the best views of the Castle.
Day 6: Museums and Secession
Fly Museum(300 Kč),City House (Obecní dům)— the most beautiful secession in Europe, concerts in the Smetana Hall.Národní museumin Wenceslas Square after renovation (2018) presents Czech history from prehistory.
Day 7: Beer and cafes
Trip toBrewery U Fleků(founded 1499) — the only beer traditionally brewed in Prague. AfternoonCafé Louvre(Kafka's Café, Einstein's) andGrand Cafe Orient— the only Cuban cafe in the world.
Day 8: Day trip
Recommendation:Karlštejn(30 min by train, 250 Kč) orKutná Hora(1 hours, 300 Kč) — a chapel made of human bones and a UNESCO silver mine.
